Lovely to see you last night we had a great talk from Paula Gamester about Blackburne House past and present and a tour round the fantastic
building; starting with the 2 bee hives on the roof (sorry to all of you who wanted to go out and get close up) and ending up in the fabulous spa in the basement which they will rent out to parties (incase you fancy pampering). It
was an interesting evening and we were so glad that Paula could be there.
Thanks to Sue for the official thankyou to Paula.
Paula also talked about the five things that will make you happy
if you think about, or do them every day; here they are:
Connect – with people, don’t be on your
own all day every day but get out, humans havn’t evolved to live in
isolation
Be active – not necessarily jogging etc
but go for a walk outside as it has been proved that a connection with outdoors
improves our mood
Take notice – mindfulness, take a few
moments to sit and think, meditate or just enjoy your
environment
Keep learning – read a book, be
inquisitive or take up a hobby
Give – your time and do something nice for
somebody, it makes us all feel good.
I was so impressed with their simplicity and obviousness that I
thought I would share them with the people who couldn’t make it last night.
Anyone who hasn’t paid Pat for the Wicked tickets, she will have
them for the July meeting or you can give me the cash at the next meeting and I
will pass it on to her.
Blackburne House are running an alternative Ascot
on Friday 20th June.
Tickets are £25 and hats are optional, if anyone fancies going. Apparently they
are always fabulous events. Talk to Blackburne House if you want a
ticket.
Next months meeting is on 9th June at 7pm when we will have the
Lavender lady coming to talk to us.
